In an effort to reduce costs for libraries, the Tech Center let out an RFP for automation software. Ultimately, we were able to negotiate a better deal on services, without having to switch packages! The City and County libraries have been invited to take advantage of this deal. This would create one county-wide library system, creating some efficiencies. However (for them) it would mean additional cost to switch products. Read on for some cool statistics on school and public libraries in our County.
Did you know that (on average last year) the combined school libraries have 222.16 lookups in the online catalog? There are 174.69 subsequent check IN/OUT operations. That's PER day!Â
Libraries have bibliographic records (books/inventory) and they have circulation (check in/out events). To make better informed decisions (and attempt to show which libraries were busiest) we compared the libraries' circulation as a percentage of bibliographic records. In other words, of the # of books you have, how many were checked in or out? What's the per-day average?
