Due to increased demand on our server, this was one of our first upgrades of the summer...
We had an old federal hand-me-down server that was 'split' virtually to be both a database server, and 2 web servers. This was a bit to ask of such an antequated piece of equipment, and resulted in running out of space for new multimedia content.
We have now migrated and have dedicated virtual machines for a database server and 2 separate web servers which all have more storage and computing power available to them.
As we go to re-retire this server, we take off our hat. For a server that put in many good years for the federal government, only to serve us faithfully for almost 2 more years, is truly commendable. This server, along with other obsolete hardware, gets sent to be properly recycled.
