Can we save the schools $8,499 a year? We already do. Here's an update on how our Voice-Over-IP system is keeping dollars in the districts...
A few years ago, the county schools got a new phone system. It is now a “region wide” system throughout the county schools.
The cost reduction since its inception averaged $8,499.72 per year over what the school districts would incur if they each had their own individual phone system. This cost reduction is after e-rate discounts and comes from consolidating multiple lines at each school into a single bundle, and reducing the rate paid on long-distance prior to its installation in the spring of 2008. Additionally, instead of the four or five phone lines (each school district had previously been purchasing) they now have shared access to 23 lines for outside calls!
